Log Cabin Builder Takes Pinewood Derby Way Too Seriously

The Pinewood Derby is a classic Cub Scout event as part of the Boy Scouts of America; young boys and their parents build a racing car out of a solid block of pine.
Did somebody forget to tell Canadian Bryan Reid Sr. the wooden cars are supposed to be miniature?
Reid is founder and owner of Pioneer Log Homes in British Columbia.

The timber mogul’s vehicle was constructed from a single log of a 240-year-old western red cedar. Unlike a Derby model, his Pioneer Cedar Rocket is propelled by an electric motor and can exceed 55mph—a feat that earned a Guinness World Record as "fastest motorized log."
The mechanical parts were taken from a Mazda RX-8; it took two years to complete.
The Pioneer Cedar Rocket was featured on the reality show Timber Kings and won a world record for fastest all-electric car. Reid went on to show it at different events.

Currently, Reid tours Canada with the Rocket, appearing at fundraisers and parades.
